The bags are biodegradable with a 1% added ECM (an organic microbial additive). This additive allows for microbes and bacteria to colonize in and around the plastic and metabolize the bag. Microbes and bacteria eat and digest the bag. 50% of the bag is tested to biodegrade in 900 days. The biodegration of the remainder of the bag depends on many factors, for example, the weather conditions and heat, etc
